Installing the App

The best way to print to PIXMA printers is definitely through Canon’s official companion app, the Canon Print INKJET/Selphy

Which is why we’ll be using it as one of the ways for this guide on how to print from iPad to Canon PIXMA wireless printer article.

So, with that out of the way, let’s go ahead and install it. Just open your AppStore and search for the name of the app and it should show up immediately.

After installing, you’ll be prompted to connect your PIXMA printer to the app. Follow the instructions shown on screen and you’re good to go.

Printing with the App

Now that everything is set up properly, we can actually print stuff with our PIXMA wireless printer. To do so, open up the app and you’ll see your printer front and center as well as everything you can do with it.

Choose either Photo Print or Document Print depending on what kind of files you want to print. 

After that, Canon will take you through everything you need to do such as giving you preview of the file that’s going to be printed, printing settings, etc. It’s a fairly simple process so after everything is in order, press the orange Print button to start printing your file.

Using Apple’s AirPrint

If you don’t want to do it the Canon companion app way, most PIXMA printers thankfully are all AirPrint compatible which means you don’t have to install anything to start printing from your iPad but before we begin do make sure that the one you have with you is actually AirPrint compatible.

To do this method on how to print from iPad to Canon Pixma Wireless Printer, make sure to connect your PIXMA printer and iPad to the same Wi-Fi network. Open up the photo or file you want to print and tap the Up-arrow button or Share button. Scroll down the menu until you find the PRINT option.

Click on it and then select which printer you want to use. If your PIXMA printer is in the same network as your iPad, it should show up as one of the printers available.

After that, you can then change the print settings such as color, duplex printing, copies, etc. Once everything is in order, tap Print and you’re pretty much done.
